Hope Academy is a Christian run home for abandoned children. Hope Family home is in Katmandu, Nepal and was started in Jan 2011 by John Shaw, his wife and son Crish. John works as a school-teacher, currently giving private tuition to the former King of Nepal’s son. He read about these abandoned children who lived in the mountain areas of Nepal, they had either lost both their parents or were abandoned by a single parent and pushed out of the villages. They would fend for themselves in the jungle areas, without much survival ability they would eat dead animals washed along in the monsoons. Some of them when they were first found has contracted hundreds or round worms, were mal-nourished, frightened and had various diseases.

The Home is run by the support of sponsors, helping to pay the rent, food clothes, school materials and other bills attached to a Home of this sort. John teaches the children as well as some volunteers who teach them Nepali, English and other school subjects in a Christian environment. All the children have been officially adopted by Hope Academy from Nepal government.
